Hi Allen_Woodliffe, this picture was taken in WoodBuffalo National Park in the nwt in mid sept, it had snowed the day before and the wind that day was fierce. this is their most northerly fly route so they are not uncommon up here. although i have not seen one since with the same pose, unique to say the least.
A very peculiar looking bird, Ziggy.....it is an American Bittern looking quite dishevelled and most definitely out of habitat! Where and when did you photograph this?
